This hard-pen calligraphy work was created by Li Qianyu, a 9-year-old student from Beijing, China. The piece presents the Tang dynasty poet Cen Shen’s “Early Journey in the Shang Mountains.” Written in regular script (Kaishu), the calligraphy shows clarity and balance, reflecting the youthful but disciplined hand of the student. The poem evokes the sorrow of a traveler leaving home at dawn, with vivid imagery of crowing roosters, autumn leaves, and the melancholy of departure.
