This scroll features selected passages from Liu Xizai’s Art Outlines: An Outline of Literature (《艺概·文概》), a cornerstone of Qing dynasty literary theory. Handwritten by Wang Yan in small regular script, the piece embodies both classical aesthetic and intellectual depth.

Wang Yan is an accomplished calligrapher and senior educator in Longjing City, Jilin Province. She currently serves as:

• Director of Teaching, Dongshan Experimental Primary School, Longjing

• Member of the China Hard-Pen Calligraphers Association

• Member of the Jilin Province Calligraphers Association

Her calligraphy has won numerous awards, including Second Prize (Teacher's Category, Soft Brush Group) at the 2023 “Calligraphy China” Chinese Character Writing Competition for her work on Mengxi Bitan.

This original work is written in precise and elegant small regular script, preserving the traditional form and spirit of Chinese scholarly writing. The scroll includes decorative patterned brocade borders, echoing antique aesthetics.
