This work by Li Wei features a refined interpretation of Mi Fu’s “The Poem Scroll of the Tiaoxi River” (苕溪诗帖), a lyrical and richly layered composition from the Song Dynasty. The calligraphy, written in expressive cursive script, is set on warm-toned paper and accompanied by a traditional portrait of a court lady, adding a painterly contrast and classical flair.

Li Wei, Cultural Exchange Chairman of Yu JIAN Academy and an alumna of the University of Rochester, holds dual Master’s degrees in Management and Information Science. Having studied Chinese calligraphy from a young age, she has built her foundation in Liu-style regular script and later developed a specialty in cursive and running scripts in the Wei–Jin tradition, under the mentorship of Sun Wenjia. Her works have been exhibited in national and international exhibitions.

This piece is a one-of-a-kind original handwritten work, unframed, suitable for both collectors and those appreciating the harmony of calligraphy and imagery.

Translation of the poem (Mi Fu, Song Dynasty):
“Pine and bamboo linger through summer, streams and mountains bid farewell to autumn.
Long have I sung the praises of the white snow, now I sing the songs of harvesting water chestnuts.
Delicate threads of fish flesh pile up on the table, golden oranges cluster on the island.
The water palace holds boundless scenery, let us embark on a journey with the Revered Xie.”
