Description :
This small regular script work by Chen Bingqian features selections from Guwen Guanzhi (An Anthology of Ancient Chinese Prose), one of the most influential classical Chinese literary compilations. It includes two essays: The Discourse on the Advancement of Learning and Farewell to Meng Dongye, both by Han Yu of the Tang Dynasty.

The work is penned in miniature script on a striking tricolor scroll with an elegant vertical layout—red for the center text and gold on both sides—highlighting both artistic composition and literary significance. The precise brush control and disciplined layout showcase Chen’s scholarly foundation and technical skill.

Chen Bingqian is a research fellow at the Chinese Regular Script Art Research Institute and currently serves as Director of the Gansu Branch of the China Calligraphy and Painting Creation Institute. His works have been recognized in numerous national exhibitions including the Zhaozhou Bridge National Regular Script Exhibition, the Huazhange Cup Diamond Sutra Calligraphy Competition (Top 120), and the Fifth Gansu Zhang Zhi Award Calligraphy Exhibition.

This is a unique, unframed, original handwritten work, rich in classical resonance and refined form.

Excerpt Translation (Selections from Han Yu, Tang Dynasty):
“Learning cannot stop; the path of study is never-ending. If you don’t advance, you will fall behind…”
“In farewell to Meng Dongye, I lament the parting of a kindred soul, whose spirit soars like the wind and moon…”
