Hand-painted Calligraphy Bookmark with Tassel — “Self-discipline in Solitude”
Reliable shipping

This handcrafted calligraphy bookmark presents the Confucian virtue “Shen Du” — “Self-discipline in Solitude.”
Originating from the Doctrine of the Mean in the Book of Rites, it emphasizes moral integrity: even when alone and unseen, one must act with caution and uphold virtue. Handwritten in Caoshu (Cursive Script) by artist Li Wei, with a cinnabar seal from Yujian Academy. The green background symbolizes growth and self-cultivation, while the strong brushstrokes reflect dignity and restraint.
The reverse side is left blank, allowing customization with a laser-engraved message or a friend’s name transliterated into Chinese characters, making it a meaningful and personalized gift.
